What a sad loss. I remember talking to him on Friday afternoon. He was talking about going to a party that weekend and walking so he would not be driving impaired.... He was a good guy.
My freshman year I hung out with Joe and Ron Leone. We had so many laughs. Joe was a real light-hearted kid. I remember getting the news about his accident when we were still at South. What a shock. A sad loss. Far too young indeed. A reminder how precious life is and how things can change in the blink of an eye.
You couldn't be around Joe and not be laughing!! I can still remember him helping me study for a test I was having in beauty culture. He made even learning the bones in the hands a fun time!! What a good all around guy! Miss Ya Joe, till we meet again, Sue
My mom saw him walking that night and asked him if she could give him a ride. He turned her down and kept walking. She and I were both so shocked and saddened. He was a sweet , kind soul. Perhaps he is hanging out with my mom these days.
Wow. Twenty-five years ago, I attended a brief memorial for Joe right outside of school -- during school. The school either laid a plaque or planted a tree or both. To be honest, I had no idea who Joe was and I was asked to go to represent the student council.
I knew almost everyone in our class, but I didn't know Joe at all.
Thanks to your memories, I now know that Joe was a funny guy who had friends who cared about him.

The Flynnster was a funny guy. I can't recall how many times I got in trouble in Science class because Joe was telling jokes. Take care my friend.Sydney Yarnold
